The vibrant yellow of Plain English’s Boiled Egg brightens up not only the Spitalfields cupboards with Wilkes doors but the entire kitchen as well.
To the right, Spitalfields cupboards with Folgate doors are topped with honed Carrara marble. The floor-to-ceiling pantry on the left is composed of Longhouse cupboards with Combs doors.
The trays and the double row of open shelving of the Osea island echo the warmth of the unpainted cupboard to the left.
Streatham Wells House
Hand-painted in Plain English’s Rusty Nail, the cabinetry transforms this kitchen and scullery into an inviting, characterful corner.
Plain English creative director Katie Fontana, in collaboration with antiques dealer/designer/decorator Christopher Howe, designed this kitchen’s cabinetry in the form of an elongated open dresser with Wilkes drawers and doors.
Wrapping around two of the room’s four corners, this configuration of Long House cupboards with Folgate doors imbues the room with a quiet simplicity.
This atmospheric Plain English design evokes a Georgian country kitchen. The centerpiece is a large worktable topped with oiled pippy oak.
The proportions of the Osea island—painted in Plain English’s Coal Scuttle and topped with honed Bateig Blue limestone—work well within this industrial-chic setting.
The pockets of open shelving allow for a curated display of favorite china, glassware, or collectibles.
