My Style

Astrological Sign: Aries

If I weren’t a designer, I would be a: Doctor.  In fact, if I ever decide to sell my company—I am headed to medical school.

Most inspired by: Travel.  I will travel anywhere from Albany to Antarctica. Getting out of my usual place inspires most of my ideas.

My Favorites

What’s your favorite movie interior: The Royal Tennenbaums

Favorite Museum: The Uffizi in Florence, Musée Rodin in Paris for the sculpture garden, Museum of Natural History for my kids … I could go on and on.  There is a great museum in almost every city.

Favorite Style Icon: Carine Roitfeld for fashion, Madeleine Castaing and Jaques Grange for interiors, and Serge Mouille for industrial design.

Favorite Cocktail: Ice cold dirty martini with extra olives

Favorite Restaurant: Le Comptoir at Hotel Relais Saint Germain, Paris

Favorite Hotel: The Round Hill, Jamaica. It’s one of my family’s favorite places on earth.

My Resources

Fabric: DwellStudio for Robert Allen, of course!

Florist: Petal, New York. I like that they will work with you to create arrangements that feel loose and hip. Plus, they are in the heart of the flower district so they get the best inventory.

Caterer: Hudson Yards, NYC. Flawless food and service.

Upholsterer: D & H Upholstery, NYC

Favorite Local Shop: Dean and Deluca. I am a sucker for everything there from the Himalayan sea salt to the cheese.

Favorite Shop Abroad: St-Ouen de Clignancourt flea market, Paris

My Decorating

Favorite Paint Color: Shaded White, Farrow & Ball. It’s the perfect chalky, dusty off-white.

Favorite Room to Decorate: Living room.  There are so many elements to play with.

Decorating Cheap Thrill: A coat of paint will change everything.

Favorite Decorating Trick: Before you make any big decisions, move your furniture around (a couple of times). This will tell what you have, what you need, and what absolutely needs to go.

You’ll Never See Me Using: I never say never.

Whether decorating or setting the table, you can’t make a mistake if you stick with your color story.
