How to Master Hot Chocolate

Filed Under:

If you’re a fan of artisanal chocolate (or if you’re like us and have a major sweet tooth), you are most likely hip to the fact that brothers Rick and Michael Mast have made quite a name for  themselves producing some of today’s highest-quality chocolate bars with packaging that would make Apple envious. Here they share their  Classic Hot Chocolate recipe from their cookbook, centering around what we consider the eighth wonder of the world: chocolate. Here’s to a delicious cold-weather companion for these winter months.

Serves 4

  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 ounces dark chocolate

1. In a medium saucepan, combine milk, cocoa powder, sugar, and vanilla.

2. Bring to boil, stirring frequently.

3. Shave chocolate over each mug. Serve piping hot with a toasted marshmallow.
