Making good use of space in a tiny apartment kitchen is a must, so I decided to add a little storage (and style) by installing a metal rod under the upper cabinets to hang coffee cups and other pretty items. Thinking outside the box in terms of application, I used a brass curtain rod that I ordered precut to fit perfectly from wall to wall in my little space. Ready to see how I did it? Keep reading!
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- One brass curtain rod and mounting hardware
- 10 to 12 brass S-hooks
- Screws (and anchors appropriate for your wall type)
- Screwdriver or drill
Attaching the Rod
One of the things I love about this particular curtain rod is its sleek and simple hardware. The bracket comes in two parts: one that you attach directly to the wall and a second that you screw onto the threaded wall bracket. This bracket worked perfectly for the project, but there are a lot of other brackets to fit different styles of spaces. Once the brackets are attached you simply screw the rod in place.
Adding Extras
Once you have the rod in place, all you need are a few S hooks for hanging, and you’re finished! For a more streamlined look, be sure to buy S hooks that match the finish of your rod. I used this for coffee cups and teatime “extras,” but you could easily adapt this idea for storing small pots and pans or hanging kitchen utensils.

where did you order the curtain rod pre cut?! i have this bizarre closet that i can’t get a pole for because the size is so awkward, maybe that place would have a similar thing for closet rods!! ha.
I’d also like to know where the rod came from. The link within the post is not working.
