An original drypoint printed in black ink on laid paper bearing the “Pellet et Legrand surmounted by Swann and Fleur-de-lys” watermark. Hand-signed in pencil in the margin lower right "Louis Legrand" also signed in the plate lower right. This is a superb impression of Arwas’ second state of four, showing rich burr throughout printed after the reduction of the plate, from the edition of 65 on this paper, numbered “7/65” in pencil also lower right (apart from the editions of 3 on parchment and 30 on Japan paper printed prior to the reduction of the plate and the removal of the remarque, and the edition of 100 printed on Japan paper with the title added lower center as issued in the Camille Mauclair book Louis Legrand). One of eight plates from the album Les Bars, published by Gustave Pellet, Paris, with his monogram stamp (Lugt 1193) in red ink at the lower right corner of the plate. Catalogue reference: Arwas A385; Exteens 271. Literature regarding this artwork: Loys Delteil, Manuel de l’Amateur d’Estampes des XIXe at XXe Siecles (1801-1924), vol. II, Dorbon-Aine, Paris, p. 346.
