Why We Love This

This drawing was part of the originals for the cartoon strip "All of Us Americans" syndicated across the USA from 1921-1962. W.E. Hill is considered one of the fathers of the modern comic strip. All early cartoons were drawn individually in charcoal like this one, and then assembled at the newspaper. During the late 1950s Hill perfected a method of laying out the full page strip and drawing it in india ink on poster board.

About the Seller

The Casey Design duo are a mother/daughter team who were both reared in the antiques business. Decades of buying, selling, collecting, and furnishing houses have given us a unique entree into many New England estates. Although our first love is Americana, our tastes range over every period, from 19th-century country furniture to 50s modern. Our focus is on good form and color and fair value.
