Why We Love This

A truly rare and magnificent 1870s Spanish Colonial room screen originally made as a courtyard gate. From Guanajuato, Mexico. This is an extraordinary stand-alone indoor piece, an exquisite room screen that lets in light but gives privacy. It has a wonderful aged patina with areas of the original maroon and cream paint still present. A section of plank at the base of one of the six panels is a half-inch shorter than the others. A porcelain knob was added at some point.
