Time is delineated across a strip of desert tar. Two men, from times of yore, wonder what souvenirs they might desire. But the store is shuttered, shopping season is over. And gentlemen remove their hats in the presence of such beauty. This image was taken by celebrated photographer Gray Malin in May of 2009, in the wildly popular arts town of Marfa, West Texas. In 2005, two artists teamed up with Prada to create their perfect "hyper-commercialism" vision of a free standing stylish boutique. Once filled with purses and shoes, the doors were sealed, never to be reopened again. With no access to the public, it seems that the purpose was to build not just a chic shop, but a fashionable objet d'art.
