Why We Love This

Emile Henry took stoneware one step further with the "Flame" line. Flame cookware, while retaining all the qualities of the rest of Emile Henry stoneware, adds one more: "Flame" kitchenware can be safely used over open flame, and withstand temperatures above those of its metal counterparts. And it still retains the wonderful heat-diffusing qualities of clay. This stewpot brings clay cookware to the range top. Ideal for everything from braising meat to simmering vegetables, it surpasses its iron ancestors - microwave safe, light weight, with even heat distribution and easy cleanup. It's often said that great tools don't make a master. But they sure help. Emile Henry cookware and tableware has been built to perform since 1850. But it's the luscious colors and designs that keep us craving. Crafted in Marcigny, France, from the local Burgundian clay, the dishes are hand-dipped in a rich glaze that resists scratching. Many are based on designs from the French company's archives and have the look and feel of French country pottery from the late 19th century. The ovenware is not only strong enough to withstand the abrupt temperature changes of freezer-to-oven cooking but is also beautiful enough to join the dinner party.
