An original lithograph of a work by Marc Chagall. This beautiful color lithograph was printed by Mourlot and published in Paris by Teriade for Verve in 1960 for a special edition devoted exclusively to Chagall's original Bible lithographs. Verve was founded in 1937 to showcase original lithographs by the leading artists of the day, with outstanding technical quality. Unsigned. Framed with a linen mat, black-and-silver wood molding, and UV glass to protect against sunlight. Excellent condition. Russian by birth, Marc Chagall was educated in St. Petersburg and Paris, eventually emigrating to France in 1923. Although influenced early on by Russian Expressionism and French Cubism, Chagall created a style that was unique to the 20th century. His mastery of color suffuses his paintings and prints as well as the stained glass work that he created for European cathedrals.
