Sultanabad rugs were originally created for the European market in the 19th century. Though the color palettes can vary greatly, most Sultanabad rugs are known for their exuberant floral patterns and soft tones. Handcrafted from start to finish in a meticulous tradition honed generation after generation in India, this rug was made by the select few artisans capable of creating such an intricate pattern. Using only the most exceptional vegetable dyes and finest hand-spun New Zealand wool, it was then expertly hand-tied, finished, and sun-dried, and can contain up to 1 million knots. A rug pad is recommended to keep this foundation securely in place.
