A 1979 graduate of the University of California in aesthetic studies and fine art photography, I have spent many years photographing the California mountains and coast. I met Ansel Adams in 1979 at his Carmel studio and have been collecting California plein air paintings since 1986. I offer a wide variety of artists and genres and hope you enjoy my passion for paintings and sculpture.
Why we love this
Painting of a cowboy and his horse by Fred Colbus (American, 1917-1986). He wanted to be a cartoonist, working in pen and ink and was employed by the Walt Disney Company. After he came out of the army in 1945, together with his wife Marjorie, he worked with commercial interior decorators, mostly in the medium casein milk paint. Later he settled in Santa Cruz, where his studio was in Bonny Doon. Signed "F. Colbus 1978" lower right and on verso. Image, 12"H x 24"L.
