Born in NYC in 1955, Tom Slaughter has worked as a printmaker in collaboration with Durham Press for 20 years. His editions are included in the MoMA and the Whitney Museum of American Art collections. He has illustrated eight children’s books—including 123, Over Under < and Same Same--that have been translated into five languages, with a new title, Do You Know Which Ones Will Grow?, due out this spring from Blue Apple Books. He also designs production posters for The New Victory Theater, and his “Yes We Can” poster for the Obama campaign was widely seen and exhibited during the first inauguration. “I have two daughters, Hannah and Nell, and have been painting valentines for them since they were little,” says Tom Slaughter, of his now university-aged daughters. “I am just starting to get good at it They look terrific at this scale in clean white frames."
