Handmade from naturally fallen wood collected in the forests of Northern Thailand, these pieces are first shaped by the elements into organic jungle driftwood. The village artisans who created this collection work with the unique shapes and features present in the raw wood to create practical and beautiful works of art. These wildly unique tea-light holders never fail to impress with their naturally occurring sculptural qualities. They are collected from fallen roots in the thick forests of Northern Thailand and lovingly cleaned and finished by hand by local artisans. A handmade flower tea-light candle is included with each. As in nature, color and shape may vary. Just before the turn of the century, Enrico Ratti worked as a carpenter for a wealthy family near Castagnetto, Italy, and fell in love with their daughter, Luisa. The family would not give their blessing for Luisa to wed the orphan Enrico, so they eloped to America, bringing with them their love of the dishes of the Italian countryside. Alas, America lacked the tools of a traditional Italian kitchen, so Enrico fashioned by hand the predecessor of today’s Enrico Grater for the rich hard cheeses they so cherished. And now you too can enjoy the simple beauty and practicality of Enrico’s century-old design long with the other beautiful kitchen products in the Enrico Collection.
