Why we love this

This fine-art giclée is a reproduction of "Calligrammes: Poème du 9 février, 1915" by French writer and art critic Guillaume Apollinaire (1880-1918). A poem in the shape of a figure with a hat, this piece appeared in the Frenchman's collection "Calligramme," or calligram, which is verse arranged in a way that adds to the meaning of the poem. About "The Calligrammes," Apollinaire wrote, "[They] are an idealization of free verse poetry and typographical precision in an era when typography is reaching a brilliant end to its career, at the dawn of the new means of reproduction that are the cinema and the phonograph." This piece comes in a custom frame.
