A 1979 graduate of the University of California in aesthetic studies and fine art photography, I have spent many years photographing the California mountains and coast. I met Ansel Adams in 1979 at his Carmel studio and have been collecting California plein air paintings since 1986. I offer a wide variety of artists and genres and hope you enjoy my passion for paintings and sculpture.
Why we love this
Fresh and gentle still life of golden yellow poppies on a background of soft peach and mauve by James Elmer Buck (American 1906-1982). Buck was in San Francisco in 1930 and soon moved south to Hollywood. He began his career painting posters for the movie studios and portraits of stars. He spent his last years in Capitola, California. He was active with the Santa Cruz Art League in whose shows he won many prizes. As well as portraits, he also painted a few still lifes. Image size, 10"H x 8"L.
