Why we love this
Original antique British watercolor of the Schooner "The James Baine" signed lower right by John Whitlock. Image, 13"H x 18"L. The James Baines was a passenger clipper ship completely constructed of timber in the 1850s and launched on July 25, 1854 from the East Boston shipyard of the famous ship builder Donald McKay in the USA. James Baines set the transatlantic sailing record of 12 days 6 hours from Boston to Liverpool, England. Shipped without glass. Yellowing to mat, scratches on frame.
