Why we love this

This original oil painting from Dee Schenck Rhodes captures the mood, color, and light of this scenic countryside.

Dee has been drawing and painting since elementary school, learning from her father to work in oils and watercolor. She studied with retired portrait painter, Gertrude Whiting, of the Art Student’s League in New York, and with Jean Kirkhoff. Drawn to the gesture of the figure and the natural world, she seeks to invoke a sense of life and motion that draws the viewer into the work. Her work has been shown in juried shows and a series of her paintings was published in a book, Blessed Paradoxes, in 1998.
