Why we love this
19th-century Japanese lacquered wood picnic box. Several kinds of wood are used and the lacquer emphasizes the natural beauty of each wood type. The box features three metal hinged compartments that open to reveal four square boxes, one triangular box, and five stacked triangular dishes. The case and boxes have different lacquer finishes. Minor losses, age wear.
