When weaving on backstrap looms, artisans can only weave panels as wide as their hips. In order to make larger textiles, they connect panels with a “ronda.” In Guatemala, rondas aren’t just a basic stitch but rather an opportunity to embellish the textile with exquisite designs. Each ronda is skillfully hand-stitched and takes one week to complete. This cotton pillow is finished with playful gray tassels at each corner. Due to the handmade nature of this piece, variations in color, tone, and pattern may occur.
