From East Coast attics to Midwest rumpus rooms, Brandywine Bookshop ferrets out charming vintage tomes on travel and cooking, fashion and art, nature and nurture, and most prized of all, illustrated children's books. Coming from a long line of publishers, authors, literacy teachers and diarists, Brandywine Bookshop's passionate love of reading was genetically pre-determined.
Why we love this
Tales of Canada, set of three. The Blue Teapot and Relief's Rocker, both by Alice Dalgliesh, set near the Bay of Fundy. The MacMillan Company, 1950 and 1952, later editions. Illustrated with one color plate and numerous pictures in black-and-white by Hildegard Woodward. Sea-Bird Island, written and illustrated Vera Andrus, set in the island of Bonaventure, near the Gaspe Peninsula. Harcourt, Brace, 1939 first edition. 142 page, signed by the author. Latter split at spine, no dust jackets.
