Batten Road was born in the ‘70s when a crazed book-lover returned from college to work in Soho at one of the country's (world's??) most famous Art & Architecture bookstores. To feed the addiction (and rent), she quickly picked up two other jobs so the love affair with books need not end. Eventually, the addiction grew to hunting for wonderful decorative accessories, furniture, tabletop and lighting.
Why we love this
Ludwig van Beethoven edited by Joseph Schmidt-Gorg and Hans Schmidt. Hamburg: Deutsche-Grammophon Gesellschaft, 1969. First American edition. 279 pp. A beautifully produced history of Beethoven and his patrons, contemporaries and his music. Illustrations include numerous portraits of Beethoven and other luminaries of the time, scenes of Vienna, manuscripts, posters and other Beethoven ephemera. Image of Beethoven on cover is on a clear acrylic overlay. A few small chips on back of cover.
