Batten Road was born in the ‘70s when a crazed book-lover returned from college to work in Soho at one of the country's (world's??) most famous Art & Architecture bookstores. To feed the addiction (and rent), she quickly picked up two other jobs so the love affair with books need not end. Eventually, the addiction grew to hunting for wonderful decorative accessories, furniture, tabletop and lighting.
Why we love this
Writers at Work edited by Malcolm Cowley. Viking Press, 1958. 309 pp. Illustrated with line drawn portraits and manuscript images. A riveting collection of interviews with 16 leading writers of the midcentury era, first published in the Paris Review in the 1950s. Faulkner, Capote, Thurber, Wilder, Styron and the rest reveal their inspirations, influences, creative processes and quirks. Wear to dust jacket, mostly on the spine. Bookplate, light tanning.
