Since 1994, Pierre and Cathy Négrel have been traveling to France in search of antique furniture and accents for our Austin, Texas store. We select each piece with an eye toward quality and distinctiveness. Négrel Antiques provides a magnificent selection of 18th- and 19th-century buffets, bookcases, and armoires, French farm tables, Carpenter's workbenches, Provençal commodes, Louis Philippe mirrors, Art Deco armchairs, Louis XVI chests and an eclectic mix of lighting.
Why we love this
A pair of French Louis XVI-style armchairs purchased from a private home in the Loire region. The armchairs are made of beechwood with fluted legs and delicate carvings including acanthus leaves, beading, fretwork and rosettes. The chairs are upholstered in a striped fabric with burgundy and rose tones finished with antique nails. The rectangular flatbacks are called "A la reine " (queen style). From floor to seat, 17". Note: We have a matching settee available.
