Batten Road was born in the ‘70s when a crazed book-lover returned from college to work in Soho at one of the country's (world's??) most famous Art & Architecture bookstores. To feed the addiction (and rent), she quickly picked up two other jobs so the love affair with books need not end. Eventually, the addiction grew to hunting for wonderful decorative accessories, furniture, tabletop and lighting.
Why we love this
The Work of Atget: Old France by John Szarkowski. MoMA, 1981. First edition with jacket. 180 pp. 121 plates and other illustrations. Atget's mission was to record the look and feel of Paris and its environs before it succumbed to 20th-century modernization. Little known in his lifetime, he nonetheless became a major influence on 20th-century photographers and artists alike. This collection is of the countryside outside Paris, 1900-1927. Minor rubbing and light age wear to jacket.
