Why we love this
The Leopard by Giuseppe di Lampedusa. London: Collins and Harvill Press, 1960. Rare, first UK edition. With a gorgeous jacket designed by Hans Tisdall, this is a very good copy of one of the great romantic novels. Semi-autobiographical and written months before the Prince of Lampedusa's death, it recreates the splendor and terror of life in Sicily in the 1860s. Book has owner dedication and foxing to front edge, otherwise a lovely copy of this masterpiece, in a perfect, unfaded jacket.
