Batten Road was born in the ‘70s when a crazed book-lover returned from college to work in Soho at one of the country's (world's??) most famous Art & Architecture bookstores. To feed the addiction (and rent), she quickly picked up two other jobs so the love affair with books need not end. Eventually, the addiction grew to hunting for wonderful decorative accessories, furniture, tabletop and lighting.
Why we love this
The Leopard by Giuseppe di Lampedusa. Translated by Archibald Colquhoun. Pantheon, 1960. 319 pages. No dust jacket. Early printing of the best-selling historical novel which became the basis for Visconti's award-winning film. Moderate wear and corner bumping to boards. Moderate wear to cover, one dog-eared page. Interior is very good with light toning. Binding is square and tight.
