Why we love this
The Poorhouse Fair by John Updike. New York: Knopf, 1966. Fifth printing of First Edition. An extremely rare copy of Updike's celebrated first novel, in very good condition, in an unusually well-preserved jacket. Updike's sardonic tale about the residents of an old-age home who stage a revolution on the day of their annual fair brought him instant acclaim. He went on to a glorious literary career, sadly now ended.
