Batten Road was born in the ‘70s when a crazed book-lover returned from college to work in Soho at one of the country's (world's??) most famous Art & Architecture bookstores. To feed the addiction (and rent), she quickly picked up two other jobs so the love affair with books need not end. Eventually, the addiction grew to hunting for wonderful decorative accessories, furniture, tabletop and lighting.
Why we love this
The Gold of Tutankhamen by Kamal el Mallakh and Arnold Brackman. Newsweek Books, 1978. First English language edition. 332 pp. 179 illustrations. A definitive history of the discovery and excavation of the tomb and the artifacts that were found. Part I illustrates the excavation with photos of the tomb and contents as originally discovered. Part II has 155 color images of the artifacts, many of which will never be allowed outside the Cairo Museum. Minor jacket wear, light toning to page borders.
