Batten Road was born in the ‘70s when a crazed book-lover returned from college to work in Soho at one of the country's (world's??) most famous Art & Architecture bookstores. To feed the addiction (and rent), she quickly picked up two other jobs so the love affair with books need not end. Eventually, the addiction grew to hunting for wonderful decorative accessories, furniture, tabletop and lighting.
Why we love this
Metropolitan Life by Fran Lebowitz. Henry Robbins/E.P. Dutton, 1978. First edition. 177 pages. Includes dust jacket. In her debut book, Lebowitz brings her caustic wit to bear on New York's cultural and social scenes. Based on her columns originally published in Mademoiselle and Andy Warhol's Interview.
