Batten Road was born in the ‘70s when a crazed book-lover returned from college to work in Soho at one of the country's (world's??) most famous Art & Architecture bookstores. To feed the addiction (and rent), she quickly picked up two other jobs so the love affair with books need not end. Eventually, the addiction grew to hunting for wonderful decorative accessories, furniture, tabletop and lighting.
Why we love this
World of Our Fathers by Irving Howe. Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, 1976. 714 pgs. with 48 pgs of photos and illustrations. Includes jacket. The epic, compelling story of the Jewish immigration over a 40 year period to New York's lower east side. Four decades after its publication, it is now a classic of social and cultural history. Very minor wear to the dust jacket, otherwise appears as new.
