Batten Road was born in the ‘70s when a crazed book-lover returned from college to work in Soho at one of the country's (world's??) most famous Art & Architecture bookstores. To feed the addiction (and rent), she quickly picked up two other jobs so the love affair with books need not end. Eventually, the addiction grew to hunting for wonderful decorative accessories, furniture, tabletop and lighting.
Why we love this
A Life in Photography by Edward Steichen. Doubleday, 1963. Unpaginated. Includes jacket. 234 gravure reproductions. Steichen, along with Alfred Stieglitz, brought photography into the realm of fine art in the 20th century. Here he recounts the major events and phases of his 70 year career, illustrated by his personal selections from his vast body of work.
