Batten Road was born in the ‘70s when a crazed book-lover returned from college to work in Soho at one of the country's (world's??) most famous Art & Architecture bookstores. To feed the addiction (and rent), she quickly picked up two other jobs so the love affair with books need not end. Eventually, the addiction grew to hunting for wonderful decorative accessories, furniture, tabletop and lighting.
Why we love this
From Picasso to Surrealism by Maurice Raynal et al. Albert Skira, 1950. First edition. 210 pgs. with 114 tipped-in color plates. No jacket. Modern art in the first half of the 20th century: masterworks of the Fauves, Cubism, Realism, Bauhaus, Dada and Surrealism. As with all Skira publications, the color reproductions and book design are top quality. Cover has some sunning, with wear to spine tips and edges. Full page inscription on endpaper. Lightly toned text pages with excellent color plates.
