Why we love this
Leather horse lawn slipper, circa 1860, from an English estate's golf green. In the 1850s, horse-drawn mowers were introduced; in order to prevent the horse's hooves from churning up the green, they were outfitted with lawn slippers, thus spreading the foot's pressure evenly. They also prevented the horseshoe imprinting and tearing up the lawn. Could serve as a wine caddy or equestrian accent. Wine bottle not included. No maker's mark.
