Why we love this
Late-18th-century bronze ormolu fragment representing the Sun King. Attributed to Pierre-François Feuchère. The fragment is made of two pieces held together by three screws. Molded in a style typical of the period, the classical head wears a ribboned and laurel leaf coiffure and a sunburst crown. Louis XIV was associated with the sun due to the brilliance of his court at Versailles. Weighing a heavy 2.8 pounds and wired for hanging. Unpolished.
