Why we love this
Masterful pen-and-ink drawing titled "The Butterfly Catcher" by academic artist Jehan Georges Vibert (French, 1840-1902). Signed lower right. Housed in a gilt gesso-and-wood frame under glass with white matting and a gilt fillet. Image: 5.5" x 7.5"; paper: 8" x10". Vibert was known for his genre scenes, often of cardinals and clergy. He exhibited work in the Salon from 1863 to 1899. Minor yellowing, age wear.
