Why we love this
Pair of English handmade majolica planters embellished with hand-applied colored glaze and tube-lined (a labor-intensive technique of squeezing a thin line of clay body through a nozzle onto the ware being decorated) outlines to keep the colors separated. Bearing the impressed mark of Royal Doulton, code number "7438" indicating the production year of 1896-97 and the artist's incised initials "FB" of the well-known ceramic designer Florence Barlow.
