Why we love this
Engraving of the Roman pavement at Cotterstock. Engraved in 1793 but published on September 20, 1802 in London. Part of a series on Roman vestiges in Great Britain. Rather rare. Few plates survive out of the initial 18. Hand drawn and colored. Engraved on a steel plate. Extensive explanation at the bottom of the engraving. Please note that the crease on the engraving is NOT permanent and will disappear with framing.
