Batten Road was born in the ‘70s when a crazed book-lover returned from college to work in Soho at one of the country's (world's??) most famous Art & Architecture bookstores. To feed the addiction (and rent), she quickly picked up two other jobs so the love affair with books need not end. Eventually, the addiction grew to hunting for wonderful decorative accessories, furniture, tabletop and lighting.
Why we love this
A History of the English Speaking Peoples in four volumes by Winston S. Churchill. Dodd, Mead & Co., 1956-58. Vols. 2-4, first editions. Vol. 1, 5th printing. No jackets. From the time of Caesar to the 20th Century. Churchill completed the first draft of his historical masterwork prior to the outbreak of World War II but, of necessity, postponed the final draft and publication until after the war. Light fading to spine, edge wear, page tanning.
