Why we love this
The Illustrated Pepys, selected and edited by Robert Latham. Los Angeles: Berkeley, 1978. First printing. Long subject to censorship, due to Pepys' frank accounts of his love life, the full text of the Diary was finally published in the 1970s. This selection, representing about a tenth of the original, is lavishly illustrated with the paintings, prints and documents of the Restoration, including Pepys' accounts of the Great Plague and Fire of London. 240 pages.
