Why we love this
A set of six Asian influence or Japonisme aesthetic dessert plates, Villeroy & Boch, Germany, late 19th Century. A turquoise basketweave ground with a raised geometric pattern of fan shapes and florals, and a scalloped rim. In the center is a naturalistically modeled and hand-painted Chestnut tree leaf with slight variations in color. Impressed markings on the versos. Light areas of glaze loss to high points due to age and use.
