Why we love this
Mid- to late-19th-century English majolica cheese tray with a running border of yellow buttercups and fern leaves on a brown ground, edged in yellow ochre. The mottled center is glazed to resemble tortoiseshell. The footed verso has a bright yellow ochre glazing. Old shallow sliver to the rear rim, not visible on the front.
