Batten Road was born in the ‘70s when a crazed book-lover returned from college to work in Soho at one of the country's (world's??) most famous Art & Architecture bookstores. To feed the addiction (and rent), she quickly picked up two other jobs so the love affair with books need not end. Eventually, the addiction grew to hunting for wonderful decorative accessories, furniture, tabletop and lighting.
Why we love this
The Agony and the Ecstasy by Irving Stone. Doubleday, 1961. Early printing, Book club edition, with original jacket and book design. 664 pages. Author's studiously researched biographical novel about Michelangelo was the best selling book of 1961 and was the inspiration for the film starring Charlton Heston. Minor wear to jacket.
