Batten Road was born in the ‘70s when a crazed book-lover returned from college to work in Soho at one of the country's (world's??) most famous Art & Architecture bookstores. To feed the addiction (and rent), she quickly picked up two other jobs so the love affair with books need not end. Eventually, the addiction grew to hunting for wonderful decorative accessories, furniture, tabletop and lighting.
Why we love this
Washington: Houses of the Capital by Henry Mitchell with photography by Derry Moore. Introduction by Gore Vidal. Viking, 1982. First edition. 216 pages. A lavishly photographed tour of the great Colonial, Federal, and especially Victorian homes in and around the nation's capital. Excellent architectural and interior photography in both color and black and white.
