Batten Road was born in the ‘70s when a crazed book-lover returned from college to work in Soho at one of the country's (world's??) most famous Art & Architecture bookstores. To feed the addiction (and rent), she quickly picked up two other jobs so the love affair with books need not end. Eventually, the addiction grew to hunting for wonderful decorative accessories, furniture, tabletop and lighting.
Why we love this
Impressionism by William Gaunt. Praeger Books, 1970. First American edition. 296 pages. 108 full-page color plates. Hardcover with dust jacket. A comprehensive overview of Impressionism in a large format volume. A concise history of the movement is followed by an impressive selection of works in full color by all the masters of the genre as well as their precursors and post-Impressionist successors, including Van Gogh, Cezanne, and Gauguin. Text pages evenly toned; light spotting on endpapers.
