Batten Road was born in the ‘70s when a crazed book-lover returned from college to work in Soho at one of the country's (world's??) most famous Art & Architecture bookstores. To feed the addiction (and rent), she quickly picked up two other jobs so the love affair with books need not end. Eventually, the addiction grew to hunting for wonderful decorative accessories, furniture, tabletop and lighting.
Why we love this
A World of Movies by Richard Lawton. Bonanza Books, 1974. 383 pp. Over 450 photos (32 color). Includes jacket. A pictorial history of the movies from the 1890s to the early 70s with a stellar collection of movie stills, publicity shots, and candid behind-the-scenes images. Minimal but brightly entertaining text by the author. Very much Hollywood oriented but contains a section including the most influential and successful foreign films. Light jacket wear, light edge tanning on pages.
