Black Sheep Antiques was started in 1999 by third-generation antiques dealer David Byerly and his wife Susan. The couple travel throughout Europe to find the best and most interesting pieces of antique furniture and home accessories. Through One Kings Lane and their 10,000 square-foot shop in Highpoint, NC, they offer countless charming and unforgettable antique items.
Why we love this
19th-century Black Forest hand-carved jewelry box with two birds and a nest with eggs, branches and leaves, all atop the lid of a bulbous-shaped box, decorated with carvings of scrolls, leaves, flowers and berries. The base is wonderfully shaped in a splayed style with scrolled feet on each end. The box opens to reveal the original velvet-lined interior. Age wear and shrinkage, slight losses.
