Batten Road was born in the ‘70s when a crazed book-lover returned from college to work in Soho at one of the country's (world's??) most famous Art & Architecture bookstores. To feed the addiction (and rent), she quickly picked up two other jobs so the love affair with books need not end. Eventually, the addiction grew to hunting for wonderful decorative accessories, furniture, tabletop and lighting.
Why we love this
Beloved by Toni Morrison. Alfred A. Knopf, 1987. Book Club edition. 275 pages. Includes jacket. Widely recognized as one of the great works of American fiction of the late 20th century, Beloved won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1987 and contributed to the body of work that earned Morrison the Nobel Prize in 1993. Was the basis for the 1988 film starring Oprah Winfrey. Jacket and underlying cover are identical to the first edition.
