Welcome to Prints with a Past. Since 1997 we have shared our love of original antique and vintage prints with our clients. The business grew out of our enjoyment in antiquing while living in Bucks County, Pennsylvania and collecting prints for our home and to give as gifts. We take great pride in presenting a diverse selection of original engravings and lithographs from the late 1700s through early 1900s, and sharing the story about each one. —Your hosts, Nancy and Dick Bossler.
Why we love this
Original 1890s lithograph of a Deer based on a kakemono (scroll) painting by Mori Sosen (1747-1821). Sosen is regarded as one of the greatest Japanese animal painters. While many of his works had monkey themes, he also painted other animals including deer, boars and fowl. His paintings are from the Shoji School, named after Shoji Street in Kyoto where many major artists of the time lived. Includes a certificate with additional information. Minor horizontal fold in print.
