Why we love this
A lovely vintage Japanese Byobu 4-panel screen depicting two white cranes and lotus leaves and flowers in a pond. Cranes are symbol of longevity in Japan, China and other Southeast Asian cultures. And lotus symbolizes purity in Buddhism and Hinduism cultures. Gouache on silk. Silk mat, brown lacquered wood frame, original brass hardware, silk on back. Signed. Excellent condition for age. No tears or dings. Some age wear on wood frame. Japan, circa 1960s.
